Aluminum Wire & Sheet

Shop vibrant colors of anodized aluminum sheet and wire, great for jewelry applications that require soft and/or lightweight wire and sheet. Anodized aluminum sheet is easy to metal stamp, and create custom shapes for jewelry. Aluminum does not rust, nor does it...

Aluminum makes a soft and extremely lightweight wire that's easy to manipulate for making jewelry and craft embellishments. The vibrant anodized colors won't chip or flake, but because aluminum (alloy number 1060) is so soft, it scratches easily. We recommend using nylon-jaw pliers or Tool Magic to prevent marring the wire. This wire works great for weaving and wrapping. Its economic price and wholesale price breaks make it a great wire for practicing new techniques too. Available in 1mm (approx. 18-gauge), and 2mm (approx. 12-gauge).

Aluminum Sheet for jewelry making: Our 30-gauge postcard-sized natural aluminum sheet, and all our 24-gauge 6x6" (approx. 150x150 mm) sheets of anodized aluminum sheet are easy to metal stamp, cut with shears, or use with punches and dies to create custom shapes for jewelry. Add holes with a drill press, or use hole punch pliers or your favorite hole punch tools.

Aluminum does not rust, nor does it take a patina with the standard chemicals normally used to oxidize (darken) jewelry. It oxidizes as soon as it comes into contact with oxygen or water! Fortunately this oxidized layer of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) immediately forms a stable layer that protects aluminum from corrosion or further oxidation (as long as it isn't exposed to chlorine or similar corrosive substances). Do not use Win-Ox™ on aluminum.
