  • For hard solder (silver-smithing solder, copper solder, etc.), use a torch.

  • Most solder requires flux to work properly. Use the categories above to find the correct type of flux for the solder you select.
Warning: If you use a tin-based (aka soft) solder on sterling silver, it forms an alloy with a new lower melting point, and you lose the ability to silver solder (torch solder) the sterling silver item in the future.
