Designer Tips

  • First use a ball peen hammer and metal block to texture each shrine blank (you will be using two of the blanks with windows, not the solid blanks). I start by doing the perimeter of each blank, then the inner perimeter of each window and then fill in the rest.
  • 26g blanks are thin so be mindful that not much force is needed to hand-hammer the surface of each shrine with window, with your chasing hammer. Start lightly and increase force as desired until the shrine blanks have the dappled look you like.
  • Next use the small (silver) side of the EURO TOOL 2-hole punch to center two stacked holes at the bottom of the window frame (the top hole will be for feeding wire through, and the bottom hole will be for hanging each eye charm), one hole above the widow frame and one hole at the very top.
  • Use pattern as shown in picture or arrange your own design, using the Mandala set to stamp a design into each window, around the interior frame. For tips on metal stamping, please refer toMetal Stamping 101
  • Use black enamel marker to color in your impressions. Allow to dry for 1-3minutes and wipe surfaces clean.
  • Cut 2, 6" pieces of wire from spool and for each earring, thread one end through the top hole and wrap around the wire about 6-7 times. Refer to Jewelry Basics 101 pdf for tips on wire wrapping.
  • Thread bicones in order (as shown in pic) for each earring and thread end of wire through the top hole at bottom of window (of the two holes at the bottom) and wrap around an additional 6-7 times and trim away tail or excess wire.
  • For each earring, attach jump ring to the very bottom hole of window and hang an eye charm, then close jump ring.
  • For each earring, attach two jump rings through the very top hole (there are two to ensure that the earring will face forward) and attach each of the topmost jump rings to the loops at the bottom of the lever back ear wires.
  • Use polishing cloths to buff and polish each earring to a bright shine!
