Also known as evening stone, lithia amethyst, and pink spodumene, kunzite offer a touch of pastels to our gemstone beads line. One of few naturally pink gemstones, this transparent stone is a pale-pink to lilac variety of the mineral spodumene. Similar in appearance to rose quartz and pink topaz, kunzite is strongly pleochroic, which means that its crystals display different colors when viewed by light polarized in different directions.
Kunzite beads are relatively hard, but should be handled with care because they have a distinct cleavage; a sharp blow applied to the wrong place can break kunzite in two. Protect kunzite from heat and continued exposure to strong light, as these can gradually cause its color to fade. Clean kunzite beads with mild dish soap. Kunzite is said to create a balance between the physical and emotional bodies, and aid in security and fear brought on by others. It's also thought to stimulate poor circulation and release tension.
