Micro Engraver #69-198

SKU 69-198
Micro engraver by the BeadSmith®. Ideal for engraving metal, glass, wood, ceramics and more! Works great on common metals used in jewelry, such as copper, brass, and sterling silver and can be used to give a "toothy texture" to the metal surface, helpful for patinas and alcohol inks. Compact, pen-style design with comfortable contoured grip. Includes two round diamond-tip bits (one thin, one thick) and an allen key to trade the tips. This easy-to-use jewelry making tool is a nice inexpensive substitute for the basic texturing features of a flex shaft system. Operates on two AAA batteries (not included).

Fun and Easy to Use

by Polly| 6/16/2011 0:00:00

I tested this tool shortly after Rings & Things added it, and liked it enough to buy one for myself. It's not a traditional engraver, but it's fun and easy to use, and you can get a nice sparkly finish wherever you use it. It's sort of like "spinning sandpaper". I use it for general texturing and adding "tooth" to a metal surface. My only complaint, is that the "on" button is a bit wimpy so it can turn on by itself when you transport it. So I recommend that when you put it away, first remove the batteries and keep them separate so it doesn't wear out the batteries while you are driving with it in your toolcase. Also, don't pack it next to heavy hammers or you may damage the tool.
