FAQ for 2021 Swarovski Crystal Changes:
What does "exiting the DIY market" mean?
Effective March 2021, Swarovski is no longer producing loose parts (beads, pendants, rivolis, flatbacks, cupchain, chandelier crystals, etc.) for individuals and businesses to use in their own creations. We had a lot of fun working with Swarovski over the past decades, and we're sad that it's drawing to an end. We will miss our Swarovski rep, as well as all the wonderful colors and shapes of Swarovski crystals that we've worked with and used in our example jewelry over the years.
Is Swarovski closing?
No, but they are changing their direction. We've heard and read conflicting information about exactly what this means, but if you search online for topics like: Swarovski News, or Swarovski Board Decisions, you’ll find announcements and articles about the decision and possible directions, in fashion magazines, financial news reports, and newspapers around the world.
Expect Order Delays
Due to the increased demand for Swarovski crystals, and the constraints of social distancing, please be aware that orders containing Swarovski crystals are likely to take a few extra days to leave our warehouse.
How much longer will Swarovski crystals be available?
That's hard to say. Production ceases at the end of March, and Swarovski is only allowing each distributor to spend a certain percent of what we spent with them in 2020. With the increase in demand that we've seen since Swarovski made their announcement, this budget doesn't allow us to restock everything we want, so we are focussing on the things you say you need most.
How do you let us know you need an item? Order now. If you wait, it may not be available. If we're already wiped out of a Swarovski crystal that you need for your business or future projects (see "Quantity Available" in item listings), we recommend back-ordering it, so that if/when we receive it, it's already reserved for you. We will continue to purchase what we can, as long as we can, and then we'll sell our dwindling supply until it's gone.
What's Next?
Although we're very sad to see our partnership with Swarovski fading away, we're also excited about new crystals and colorful supplies that we'll be bringing in to replace them. New bicone beads, flatbacks, crystal pearls and leaded-glass suncatchers (that produce brilliant rainbows) are now trickling in!
