Also known as spring jasper beads, unakite beads offer a bright, spring-like color blend of reddish-orange to pink feldspar, white/gray quartz, and pistachio-green epidote (calcium aluminum iron silicate hydroxide). The semiprecious gemstone's compact, hard structure combined with its bright coloration make it a nice stone for jewelry. Unakite was named for the Unaka Mountains in the Southeastern USA, where it was first discovered. Ultrasonic cleaners, steaming and soapy water are all generally safe methods for cleaning these durable semiprecious beads, but rough handling should be avoided. Unakite is considered a balancing stone and is said to help unify the emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of oneself. It is also is believed to help the wearer live in the present instead of dwelling on the past.
