Firepolish faceted teardrop beads work great for making vintage-style jewelry, or for repairing and updating genuine antique jewelry. The teardrops are created by pressing glass in a mold to create the bead, then roughly faceting it. Finally, the bead's surface is briefly exposed to intense heat which melts and smooths the rough edges, creating slightly rounded facets. This "fire polish" gives increased luster to each teardrop. As with all of our firepolished beads, these teardrops are produced in the Czech Republic, the centuries-old Bohemian center of glass bead manufacturing. Fire-polished teardop beads provide almost as much sparkle as crystal, at a more affordable price.
