This thin leather cord is a good compromise between thicker leather cord (great for the ceramic beads) and thinner cords (normally used for crystal beads). Before cutting desired length, check for weak spots, or spots that might be too thick for the 4mm crystal beads.
Add beads in desired pattern (using a 4mm jet bicone next to each skull bead), then lift the necklace and center the beads on the leather. Make an overhand knot directly above the final 4mm jet bicone on each side.
Take one end of the leather, and slide on the button. Using 3" of the 24-gauge wire, fold 1/2" of the leather over the button shank and wrap down the leather end to about 1/2" length. Trim end.
Take the other end of the leather and fold over the end using about 2" of leather. Make a loop that fits over the button, and then use 3" of 24-gauge wire to wrap the final 1/2" or so. Trim.
