Silver Filled Jewelry Wire, Round, 14ga, Dead Soft
14 Gauge Jewelry Wire is often used to create components such as clasps, rings, cuff bracelets and bangle bracelets. It can also be used to create frames for resin and mixed media projects, as well as structural support for many styles of jewelry. Solid 14ga wire can be used to make rivets. Tips for Using Sterling Silver Wire, Gold-Filled Wire, and Precious Metal Sheet - To keep track of your different materials of wire and sheet, mark each material with a different color of permanent marker. (Sharpies work great.)
- Any writing on wire or sheet is easily removed with acetone or fingernail polish remover.
- To prevent pliers from marring delicate, expensive materials such as sterling silver wire, fine silver wire, and gold-filled wire: wrap a bit of tape around serrated pliers so the serrations don't scrape or mar your wire. Nylon jaw pliers are also very convenient to use, and Tool Magic anti-scratch coating is a staff favorite!
- With all wire gauges: the larger the gauge, the smaller (thinner) the wire diameter.
- New to working with wire? See Wire Jewelry 101 in the Related Products tab for more information about gauges, hardness, and what size of wire is best for which types of jewelry projects.

14-gauge round wire. Approximately 4.71ft/oz. Dead soft (not tempered), easy to manipulate. 1/10th silver filled. A great alternative to sterling silver. Dead soft is typically used for wire wrapping, including wrapped cabochons and "sculpted" wire jewelry. Silver fill is a layer of 0.925 or greater silver which is mechanically bonded to a brass core. It is 100's of times thicker than any silver plating. 1/10th silver-filled items are at least 1/10th silver by weight.
