Use the jump ring to attach the pendant to the ear thread first. This 5mm round, 19-gauge ring is big enough to fit the crystal, while being thin enough to fit in the loop on the ear thread. Using a larger jump ring will cause the skull to sit funny. (See Technique Sheet below for best way to open and close jump rings.)
Slide the skull bead onto the ear thread and down to the end; turn so the skull is facing forward over the spike bead. Adding the SmartBead helps hold the skull bead in position, and prevents it from falling off the thread when not being worn.
A second SmartBead (or a French wire keeper) helps keep the ear thread securely on the ear.
These earrings can be adjusted to hang long or short!
One or more parts (or tools) used in this project are no longer available, so we've moved the whole project into the "Misc Jewelry Tutorials with Issues" area while we decide what we want to do about it: find a good sub, re-make this project, or retire the tutorial.
