Leather Flower Hair Clip Tutorial
This simple hair pin can be personalized to fit any occasion! Use a few different colors of leather, a variegated silk ribbon and alternately plated findings; substitute silk for deerskin leather, add crystal rivets... the options are endless. As long as you can securely rivet the items to the foundation (metal backing attached to hairpin) you will have a great hair accessory!

Tips, Continued
Cut leather components:
Use #61-093-48 Sand Leather, to cut a 1-1/4" flower and a 1-3/8" circle.
Use turquoise leather to cut a 1-3/4" flower, 1" flower and 1-3/4" circle.
on the hair pin, centered between the pin and the top of the pad;
in the center of the silk ribbon;
near the bottom of the large round metal blank (The existing hole is not large enough. Be careful not to get too close to the edge; this forms the foundation for the leather components.)
Assembly:
Put the stem of the rivet through the back side of the hole in the hair pin. Layer with silk ribbon and large round metal blank (foundation). Punch hole in center of 1-3/4" turquoise circle, and layer it with the large metal flower on top of the round metal blank (foundation). Set and rivet into place. See instructions in rivet details, or see Riveting 101.
Decide on exact placement of your first bunch of flowers. Punch a hole in the metal foundation for the stem of the rivet to go through. Punch, layer and rivet to the foundation: large metal flower, 1-1/4" sand flower, and 3/4" turquoise flower.
Place 2nd bunch of flowers. Punch a hole in the metal foundation and push the rivet through. Punch, layer and rivet to the foundation: a 1" turquoise flower, 1-3/8" sand circle and a small metal flower.
The metal flowers layered into each stack give extra support to the leather components.
