Designer Tips, Continued
I recommend that you sketch out your design ahead of time on a scratch piece of paper and then lay the beads loose in the tray before starting to ensure you'll have room for what beads you want to use.
Clean each bezel cup to ensure best adhesion. Mix your Ceralun clay according to the package directions, using equal parts of resin and hardener (about 0.30oz each if you are using a jeweler's scale) or 0.25" using a ruler. Mix thoroughly and press evenly and firmly into the bezels, taking care to fill gaps and edges. Ceralun has a 2 hour curing time so don't rush. You have a decent window for placement and adjusting.
Press your two Swarovski flatback skulls firmly and gently into the centers of each bezel. Arrange bugles and seed beads around the skull as desired, taking care to keep the surface of the clay even with each new addition. observe your design at eye level as you go to ensure that beads are pressed into the clay equally. Reposition and adjust beads using your spare headpin or exacto knife.
Once all beads are in place, trim away overlaps and excess clay with your exacto knife and allow to cure in a covered, dry space for 2 hours. Store remaining clay in the small, sealable plastic container.
Once cured, attach finished bezel cups to the bottom loops under skulls. Ta da!
