Barrel shaped gemstone beads are very similar to tube beads, but are generally wider than tube beads. Many, but not all, have a bulging center like a wine barrel, but others have straight sides like a steel drum. Tube beads have a long, narrow, usually cylindrical (circular-ended) shape. Alternately, the sides can be flat to create rectangular or square ends (rectangle tubes). Hexagon gemstone beads are any bead with six sides (plus the two ends). This shape is also known as hexagonal. At a quick glance, they resemble faceted (aka "cornerless") cube beads. Ours are usually slightly longer than they are wide, so they are in the tube bead section.
