Argentium wire is made from a tarnish-resistant variety of sterling silver. The alloy contains 1.2% germanium, 6.3% copper and 92.5% silver. Choose from dead soft and half hard wire in round and square shapes. For the wearer of Argentium jewelry, the main attraction is that this silver wire won't need to be polished nearly as frequently as regular sterling silver. For metal workers, Argentium offers additional benefits as well:
- Won't develop firescale, which saves time and makes it more environmentally friendly than traditional sterling.
- Can be made nearly twice as hard as standard annealed sterling silver by a simple heat treatment.
- Can be laser welded.
