Fossil beads make a great addition to jewelry designs because of their history! Fossilized dinosaur bone beads (not always available) are cut from a silicified pseudomorph, which means that atom-by-atom, the ancient bone material was replaced by a silica material without changing the original mineral's external appearance. In this case, bone has been replaced by chalcedony. Although fossilized dinosaur bones are found in many places around the world, the highly silicified and beautifully colored dinosaur remains sometimes called "gem bone" are almost exclusively found in the Colorado Plateau (USA). Other fossilized bone jewelry components we carry include fossilized mammoth tusk beads, fossil ammonite pendants, fossilized coral and more!
