Blue Goldstone

Also known as sandstone, goldstone is a shimmering manmade gemstone that can be flashy or elegant, depending on how you use it. All colors of goldstone beads (including this deep blue goldstone) are made of glass imbued with tiny copper inclusions. Copper salts are added to liquid glass, and then, through a special cooling process, the glass is held at a specific temperature for a length of time before being allowed to cool. As the glass cools, the salts turn into copper crystals, creating the unique sparkle and flashy metallic gleam in these semiprecious beads and pendants.

Sodalite:Also known as Canadian blue stone and Canadian lapis, sodalite is characterized by an intense dark blue hue with white and sometimes yellow streaks.Sodalite consists of a sodium aluminum chlorine silicate that is almost identical in composition to lapis lazuli. Sodalite is a member of the feldspathoid group, meaning it has a similar chemistry to feldspar except for its poor silica content. The best way to clean sodalite jewelry components is in warm, soapy water. Never clean them in an ultrasonic machine. The semiprecious gemstone fuses to a colorless glass in heat, and can be damaged by hydrochloric acid. Sodalite has been discovered in ancient tombs and ruins in various ornamental forms, often as a replacement for lapis lazuli. True dendritic jade is olive green to blue-green nephrite with dark dendrites (branching, treelike structures). Like many of the jade beads on the market, we believe our Dendritic jade to be a form of serpentine. (The Chinese word for jade is applied to a variety of minerals, including nephrite, jadeite, serpentine, agate and quartz.).
