Definition

Art Clay Silver (ACS) is powdered fine silver mixed with non-toxic binders and water. When kiln or torch fired, the binders burn away to leave pure 99.9% silver (there is a small amount of shrinkage, usually 8-10%).
Now you can create an amazing variety of unique silver jewelry and one-of-a-kind beads, with just a few tools! While many artists love to work with metal, the mechanics of bezels, screws, nuts, bolts, glue and soldering can make the creative process feel more like an engineering mission.
Art Clay Silver removes the technicalities and leaves the technique, giving you a more direct design-creative process. Prior to firing, Art Clay Silver can be used with a variety of materials: glass, ceramics, porcelain, polymer clay and more. It can be rolled, sculpted, stamped, sanded, burnished, filed, engraved, drilled and pre-polished, before and after firing. Do not mix ACS into non-ACS products.

Other things we should mention:
- Art Clay Silver packages have a five-year shelf life. But the experts say it lasts far longer ... and if it dries out, just add water!
- To recycle every usable scrap and keep your clay at a good consistency,
try our #69-132 jar, which comes with a sponge to keep your clay moist.
- To fire Art Clay Silver, we recommend our #69-180 torch and/or a small programmable (computer controlled) kiln by Paragon Kilns or Sierra Kilns. Before using a torch, please take an official Art Clay Silver class or purchase an Art Clay video.
