2010

"#6 of 34 Earring Designs"


On p 38 of Stringing's Spring 2010 issue, Ricky Ann Talmage features faceted green aventurine round beads from Rings & Things in her vintage-looking brass and gemstone drop earrings. For a variation on the design, you can browse our links/connectors and earrings findings. Hold everything together with head pins.

"#2 of 18 Bracelet Designs"


Jeanie Dukic creates a nice finish to her bracelet design on p 58 of Stringing's Spring 2010 issue with two natural shell beads from Rings & Things! (For a different look, browse all our shell beads.) Other supplies used include seed beads, coin pearls and lobster clasps.

"Dragonfly Melody"


Heather Powers offers a design full of both shimmer and economy on p 67 of Stringing's Spring 2010 issue. In this necklace, Heather features Botswana agate coin beads, sterling silver coiled spacer beads and 22-gauge 1.5" gunmetal eye pins from Rings & Things! Other supplies include size 11 metallic seed beads, 8mm labradorite faceted rondelles, wood "dagger" beads, antiqued brass hook clasps and antiqued brass flat oval chain.
 

2009

"Jazz Baby"


The bead and chain necklace by Michelle Mach, on p 64 of Stringing's Winter 2009 issue, plays a tantalizing tune! Gunmetal "round/oval" ring chain and gunmetal figaro chain provide the syncopation while lampwork glass rondelles add bright solo notes. Complete the song with size 6 seed beads, gunmetal eye pins, gunmetal jump rings and gunmetal lobster clasp.

"Time's Toolbox"


In the necklace design on p 66 of Stringing's Winter 2009 issue, Melanie Brooks complements an Earthenwood Studio ceramic focal with gunmetal mesh-style chain links and gunmetal hammered oval chain. She keeps everything together and ticking with extra-heavy gunmetal 13mm jump rings, brass jump rings and an antiqued brass clasp. For a clasp more similar in style to the one Melanie uses, you can expand the mixed-metals look and try a sterling puzzle clasp.

"Amusing Grace"


Melanie Brooks gives us another winning design with the steampunk-inspired necklace on p 69 of Stringing's Winter 2009 issue. She starts with an Earthenwood Studio gear link and keyhole pendant (if you need substitutes, try ceramic gear beads with eye pins and metal keyhole pendants). Add a skeleton key and genuine metal coin for added whimsy. Other supplies include extra-heavy gunmetal 13mm jump rings, 3.9mm brass rollo chain, 2" 21g brass head pins, brass lobster clasps, brass eye pins, brass jump rings, 20g colored craft wire and bead caps.

#3 of "35 Earring Designs!"


These dangly mixed metal & coral earrings (p 38 of Stringing's Fall 2009 issue) are great for day wear or a night on the town! The copper spacers from Rings & Things provide an attractive contrast to the brass connector rings, leaf charms, chain and lever-back ear wires. Round coral gemstone beads addd a splash red to complete the look.

"The Gathering"


The charming autumn necklace on pp 41-43 of Stringing's Fall 2009 issue features 3 styles of Rings & Things bulk chain: copper long-&-short figaro chain, brass flattened (oval/round) chain & brass long-&-short curb chain. "Branching Out"


Customize necklace links like in the necklace design on p 44 of Stringing's Fall 2009 issue. African turquoise cube beads make a great complement to the warm copper findings in this piece! Findings include 10mm copper bead caps, 8mm copper jump rings, 5mm copper daisy spacers, copper eye pins, copper toggle clasps, 26-gauge copper wire and round copper rings/links. Seed beads.

"Multiple Choice"


Brass long-&-short curb chain forms the backbone of the changeable-focal necklace design on p 49 of Stringing's Fall 2009 issue! Use 6mm round brass jump rings, oval jump rings and brass filigree connector links to complete the "strap." Add a coat hook, then create changeable focals. Other supplies include: seed beads, bronze potato pearls, glass pearls, 6mm gemstone rounds, 8mm gemstone rondelles, assorted metal beads, leaf charms, bead caps, brass jump rings and head & eye pins.

#18 of "19 Bracelet Designs!"


Combine cool wooden beads with lampwork glass beads to achieve this cool look, seen on p 61 & 93 of Stringing's Fall 2009 issue. Other supplies you'll want include copper toggle clasps and jump rings.

#6 of "17 Earring Designs!"


Mixed metals make a liberating statement in Heather Powers' dangle earrings, seen on p 35 of Stringing's Spring 2009 issue. Mixing brass spacer beads and gunmetal ear wires offers a trendy look that works with any number of focals! Connect everything with large oval jump rings and head & eye pins. For a winning bracelet of your own, take a handmade focal bead and string it with a combination of wooden beads and complementary colors of gemstone rounds & gemstone rondelles. Then, finish with a clasp of your choice. Or, create your own clasp with a seed bead loop and a button!
 

2008

"Fancy Pearls: Frost Blossom"


This elegant design found on pp 20 and 22 of Stringing's Winter 2008 issue starts with a large Thai silver flower pendant, then complements the striking focal with white potato pearls, corn (button) pearls and top-drilled keishi pearls. Final "frosty" embellishments are acheived with size 11 crystal/silver-lined seed beads, crystal/silver-lined "E" beads, Swarovski® simplicity beads and crystal bicone beads. Three-strand clasps, sterling crimp tubes, silver 0.018" beading wire.

#5 of "36 Earring Designs"


Earrings are not only easy to make, but they spice up your wardrobe in a jiff! See pp 30 and 94 of Stringing's Winter 2008 issue for a great faceted pearl earring design to make you the envy of everyone on the block! Start with shimmering faceted pearls, and top them off with gold daisy spacers and your choice of bead caps. Head pins, ear wires.

"Red Currant Lariat"


The gold-plated bar chain used in the festive lariat necklace on p 44 of Stringing's Winter 2008 issue is limited to stock on hand, so grab it while you can! The design embellishes the chain with top-drilled crystal rivolis, but top-drilled Swarovski® crystal octagons, bicone drops or small briolettes will also work. After choosing your crystal, simply add a 14x20mm gold-plated hammered oval link to the chain and use 3.5mm gold jump rings to attach the crystals.

"Gustav's Bohemian Romance"


Add Bohemian flavor to your designs! Page 56 of Stringing's Fall 2008 issue offers a great necklace design for your inspiration. Findings for the colorful "Felt Balls" earrings (#34) on p 37 of the Spring 2007 issue of Stringing are just a click away: flat-ring footage chain, 8mm jump rings and French-hook ear wires. Or, try circle bead frames to create a similar (but heavier) look with 6mm or smaller round beads!

From the "Bracelet Blitz"


We've got what you need to make a multistrand garnet and pearl bracelet similar to design #9 on p 54 of Stringing's Spring 2007 issue: freshwater pearls, garnet, Swarovski® crystal beads, basic sterling silver rounds and fancy three-strand clasps.

Straight off the Vine


For an appetizing springtime look, feature pea-pod charms on a string of size-8 green seed beads, 4mm green Swarovski® crystal bicones and 6mm green glass rounds (as seen on p 61 of Stringing's Spring 2007 issue).
