BeadStyle Magazine Features

Beads and findings listed below have all been featured in BeadStyle magazine. And, they're all available through Rings & Things! Click links below for specific product information. Don't forget to also check out our recently featured offerings. Back to all magazine & book features.

2009

"Multifaceted, Multicolored, Multistrand"

The earrings accompanying the brilliant ruby and amethyst necklace on pp. 54-56 of BeadStyle's November 2009 issue feature 37mm marquise links from Rings & Things! You can also stock up on these supplies for the project: faceted amethyst gemstone beads, purple freshwater pearls, beading wire, crimp beads, 3mm spacer beads, wire guards, 3-strand clasps, toggle clasps, 1.5" head pins and earring wires.

"Ocean Charms"

The sea-themed bracelets on pp. 12-13 of BeadStyle's 2009 "52 Bracelets" special issue can be imbued with whatever feelings you want to convey, and Rings & Things' 14mm flat ring jewelry chain offers the perfect backdrop for adding your dangles! Have fun choosing whatever beads, bead caps and charms suit your fancy. Create dangles using 2" head pins, and finish off your bracelet with jump rings and a toggle clasp.

"Silver and 'Turquoise' Cuff"

Vintage style meets 21st-Century fun on pp. 18-20 of BeadStyle's 2009 "52 Bracelets" special issue. 5-hole wavy spacer bars and bracelet memory wire create the foundation for this great look. Turquoise magnesite rounds offer an economical bead option (but more turquoise rounds include genuine turquoise). Other supplies you'll want are 4-5mm plain spacer beads and 2" ball-end head pins.

"Wood and Gemstones"

Wooden beads are inviting and bold at the same time, as seen in the bracelet on pp. 58-59 of BeadStyle's 2009 "52 Bracelets" special issue. Start with the warmth of 20mm wavy wooden beads and complement them with faceted 8mm gemstone rondelles, 8mm fluted silver rounds and gemstone chips. Other supplies include 5mm silver spacers, 0.014" or 0.015" beading wire, 2" head pins, crimp beads and toggle clasps.

"New Southwestern Style"

The cool earrings on p. 106 of BeadStyle's September 2009 issue feature carnelian oval rings, but mother-of-pearl oval rings from Rings & Things are a great design alternative! (For a smaller, more bling version, try 22mm CRYSTALLIZED™ ovals). 10mm gemstone puffed briolettes & 11mm CRYSTALLIZED™ flat briolettes make great accompaniments! Finish your earrings with 24-gauge or 26-gauge wire, jewelry chain and French hook ear wires.

"Chained Pearls"

Lustrous pearls and shining bulk chain make a great duo, as seen on pp. 40-41 of BeadStyle's July 2009 issue. To get started, choose your favorite color of 4-5mm freshwater pearls and 6-7mm freshwater pearls—or use multicolor pearl strands. Then, complement the pearls with a variety of cool bulk footage chain (we have over 150 styles!). Finish your design with 24-gauge wire, 2" extra-thin head pins and lobster claw clasps.

"Simple Summer Jewelry"

Enjoy a summer palette with the beginner jewelry designs on pp. 48-50 of BeadStyle's July 2009 issue. Large curved silver tube beads and 8mm faceted gemstone rondelles (including cherry "quartz") form the bulk of these designs. For a more subtle design alternative, substitute 8mm silver rounds for the large focal tube bead. Other supplies include size 8 seed beads, spacer beads, 0.014" or 0.015" beading wire, head pins, crimp beads, ear wires, lobster clasps, toggle clasps and chain extenders (or make your own extender from bulk chain).

"Star-Spangled Bracelet"

The fun star-themed designs on pp. 52-53 of BeadStyle's July 2009 issue are great for Independence Day and every day! Premade 40mm wire-wrapped stars make construction light work. Embellish the stars with clusters of 6mm crystal bicones using 2" head pins, soldered jump rings and regular jump rings. Finish your bracelet, necklace and earrings with toggle clasps and ear wires.

"Fiesta Necklace"

Fiesta-a-go-go with the colorful necklace design on pp. 58-60 of BeadStyle's July 2009 issue. R&T's 30-40mm gemstone go-go pendants work for a daintier version of this project, and our large horn donuts are perfectly big & bold! String onto strands of round glass beads and seed beads (for an easy option, try our multicolor seed bead strands). Finish with wooden beads (optional for use with horn donuts), 4mm silver spacers, 0.014" or 0.015" beading wire, 22-gauge half-hard wire, jump rings, cone ends, crimp beads, crimp covers, "S" hook clasps and ear wires. Time-saving bead spinners.

"Fashionista Frida"

The beautiful necklace on pp. 52-55 of BeadStyle's March 2009 issue was inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The vivid colors reflect Kahlo's paintings. Give a striking "Kahlo" backdrop to your large focals with brilliantly hued red shell pearls (other sizes might have been purchased at an R&T show). Supplement large focals with smaller flower components. Other supplies include 0.018" beading wire, 2" ball-end head pins, 4mm jump rings, crimp beads, Wire Guardians™, hook-&_eye clasps & ear wires.

"December: Turquoise"

The whimsical design on pp. 24-27 of BeadStyle's January 2009 issue uses economical imitation azurite as "turquoise" & gemstone butterfly beads as focals. For higher-end versions, try genuine azurite rounds, turquoise rounds & turquoise magnesite rondelles. Other supplies include 4mm gemstone rounds, beading wire, crimp beads & covers, wire protectors, "S" hook clasps, toggle clasps, crystal bicones, basic 2" head pins, earring wires. For a slightly different look, try our Alternate parts list.

"Beaded Beads from Bali"

As you can see on pp. 78-80 of BeadStyle's January 2009 issue, Rings & Things' bold brushed-finish silver-plated beads are a perfect pairing for beaded beads! Our wire spiral beads make a great match too. 3mm round spacers, beading wire, 10-12mm link footage chain, jump rings, crimp beads & covers, wire protectors and toggle clasps.

Buying BeadforLife's hand-rolled paper beads helps women at risk. To make simple and stylish earrings with these beads, the only other supplies you need are 4mm silver disks/spacers, silver ball-end head pins and silver earring wires. Decorative cones.

"Maid to Order"

Make a unique look for the bridesmaid! Pages 30-33 of BeadStyle's Beading Parties special issue offer some stylish earring options! Start with square links and marquise links/connectors as elegant bases. Then, use 26-gauge wire to add sparkling crystal beads and drops. Jump rings, earring wires.

"Recycled" Disk & Loop

Ebenizer Djaba (aka Cedi) is owner and director of the Retado Bead Industry in Ghana. He's also creator of a great bracelet & earring set featuring recycled glass on a chain made of disk-&-loop forms and large jump rings. The glass is applied with Super New Glue. For project details, see pp. 40-42 of BeadStyle's July 2008 issue. To see videos of the type of traditional recycled glass-making done at Retado, go to Cross Cultural Collaborative, Inc.

"Quick Silver"

Create extraordinary style in a flash with our Karen Hill Tribe fine silver nuggets and 9mm sterling silver nuggets. They're featured on pp. 76-78 of BeadStyle's July 2008 issue, and the magazine's editor is quoted as saying "these are the coolest things we've seen in a while!" Use 13-15mm turquoise ovals or black gemstone ovals to offset the silver. Fine silver toggle clasps; silver 0.014" diameter and 0.015" diameter stringing cable.

"Kilt Pin Necklace"

Showcase a variety of distinctive beads and dangles with the simple, stylish necklace and bracelet found on pp. 47-49 of BeadStyle's "Under $25" special issue. Making these fun designs is easy with Rings & Things' kilt pin findings, ball chain, end-ring connectors and cinnabar beads. Footage chain, bead caps, jump/split rings.

"Naturally Simple Necklace"

Let R&T help you create the earthy look on pp. 60-22 of BeadStyle's "Under $25" special issue. Cell-Phone Butterfly

Become a social butterfly with this design for beautifying your cell phone in a jiff! Full directions are on pp. 1-2 of BeadStyle's May online subscriber project. Start with a split-ring cell-phone lariat, then use a 2" 22-gauge head pin and 22-gauge half-hard wire to embellish the lariat with a 25-30mm butterfly focal bead and other beads. If your cell phone doesn't have a loop, nylon O-rings work great for attaching a dangle to the antenna!

No Wasted Minutes!

Another great cell-phone embellishment design can be found on pp. 46-47 of BeadStyle's May 2008 print issue. It starts with the same split-ring cell-phone lariat, and adds dichroic glass beads and metal spacers. 1.5" head pins; 20-gauge half-hard wire.
