It'll grow on you fast! The Climbing Ivy earrings design project, using Art Clay Silver.

The designer created the ivy leaf charms with Art Clay Silver 650 Slow Dry (#87-007-20).

There are a few tricks to it though, so we strongly recommend that you take some time to get familiar with the product before beginning your first piece. 40-156-3 Fine cobra chain, silver plate
37-572 Sterling silver head pin with ball end
37-145-3 Jump ring, silver plate
87-005-20 ACS 650
Any rubber stamp for impression

1. Lightly oil the surface of your stamp.
2. Roll out ACS, pressing it into the shape of a circle.
3. Press stamp to clay, to desired texture, then carefully remove clay.
4. Cut desired shape using tissue blade.
5. Fire on open flame for 5 minutes.
6. Brush with stainless steel brush, then tumble for two hours.

Art Clay Silver Pendants

The heart pendant was made by punching (with a paper punch) pieces of the (now discontinued) Sheet-type Art Clay Silver, and appliqu�ing them to another, larger punched piece.

The triangular pendant was made of original Art Clay Silver (87-001), following the technique in Project 1, on page 6 of Art Clay Silver Book 1. In this technique, you roll out a piece of Art Clay Silver, form the outer shape, then put a cut-out (or punched-out) piece of heavy paper on top of your piece, and roll it out again. When you remove the piece of paper, it has left an indented shape in the pattern of your choice.

The oval pendant was made by painting the Overlay Paste (87-026) onto an oval porcelain bisque pendant (87-046). This was meant to be a base for another project, but the other project ended up being too much larger than the base. So this will be something else someday....

Made with Art Clay Silver Syringe Type (87-035), following the technique in Project 3, on page 10 of Art Clay Silver Book 1. If you prefer a seamless look, the book recommends finishing this multi-layer design with Paste Type (87-023), to smooth out the edges of the layers.

Use a jump ring and pendant bail to hang an item like this from a cable choker or necklace chain.

Tools and Supplies: Set of twenty-four 5x4"texture plates (#87-055), biscuit cookie cutter, scissors

1. Roll the ACS between your hands into a ball, then flatten to desired thickness. It can be as thick as you want. Put down your lightly oiled texture plate (87-055, dense dots), lay clay on it, press down a little. Put lightly oiled second plate (87-055, plants) on top.

TIP: Rolling your clay out just a little, after making your impressions, spreads your design out a little.

2. Place any lightly oiled third plate down (if desired), and press gently until you have the type of impression you want. Deana went for a light imprint with the third plate.

3. Cut out with small scalloped biscuit cutter. When dried, she used a damp cloth to do a pre-fire finish.

4. Use a straw to make your hole. Let it dry completely to the hard (bisque) stage, then fire for 5 minutes, following product instructions. Drop in a Pyrex bowl with cold water. Post-fire, brush with brass brush and then tumble for 1.5 hours with steel shot and water.
