The necklace is inspired by Katie Hacker's "Velveteen", from page 124 of
Bead & Wire Jewelry Exposed (#62-180).
The designer uses Hacker's instructions with the following exceptions:
- To make the necklace choker length: use two 31" and one 17" sections of Beadalon.
- To make the piece less scalloped looking, weave through every other rondelle instead of every rondelle. Cut the choker into five 3" sections to do this.
- Small sterling spacers are added around the tubing sections.
- Optional: use a jump ring to add a sterling charm.
TIPS:
* Cut apart a flocked choker (if it is hollow) for the velour tubing sections.
** NOTE: not all of our chokers are hollow.
* Using 6mm faceted gemstones instead of 6mm CRYSTALLIZED beads can cut the cost to make nearly in half! (depending on the gemstone of course.)
* Gemstone beads vary +/- 10%, so some beads might not fit 2 strands of stringing wire, but most will. Use a bead reamer if necessary.
