Gifted Gift-Wrap Embellishments
Artist: Michelle Mach (Fort Collins, CO)
Polly's Pick, Mixed Media
"I love beautiful packaging for gifts, but traditional wrapping paper mystifies me: I can't cut the paper straight, fold it neatly, or tape it properly. I was painting various metal flowers and leaves, figuring that I'd use them for a piece of jewelry. I want to set one on a white background to see how it looks and grabbed a little white cardboard jewelry box. I immediately fell in love with the look and started making various tags and flowers and tying them on with bows. The Tim Holtz® flower and leaf set comes with brads, so you don't even need to pull out your hammer to make these adorable embellishments. (You will need a metal punch, however, if you want to add holes, such as in the middle of the metal blanks or the filigree.)"

To color metal components like Michelle did, use Adirondack® alcohol inks! We recommend sealing colored metal components with EnviroTex® spray sealer, ITS™ Image Transfer Solution or Mod Podge®.
Polly’s Picks are designs we especially like despite the fact that they did not win a formal prize. These designs are often simple, practical and/or whimsical examples of how to use Rings & Things components well.
