Artist: Ilana Krepchin (Somerville, MA) First Place, Mixed Media
Ilana was inspired to create this piece by her love of geometrical shapes. She created her own connecting loops by hammering flat U-shaped sections of round sterling silver wire and soldering them onto the backs of square sterling silver bezels. After forming geometrical walls inside the bezels, Ilana colored jewelry resin with opaque resin pigments, and filled the shapes with light blue, navy, black and pink resin. Finished bezel focals are attached to each other with sterling silver jump rings and the piece is finished with a two-strand sliding-tube clasp.
