"All five focal beads were designed and made by me using my own faux cloisonné technique. Cloisonné is an ancient metalworking technique that involves soldering pieces of wire to the metal base and filling them up with glass enamels in various colors. The faux cloisonné I am using involves polymer clay and does not require any complicated equipment or toxic materials. The technique however requires lots of skill and patience, as every line of the design has to be formed by a separate piece of wire that is precisely cut, bent and applied to the base. I am especially proud of the effect I was able to achieve in this piece, in which the surface design flawlessly follows over a number of focal beads. This is particularly difficult to accomplish. My name for this necklace was inspired by Art Nouveau motifs ... the design spreads like wild fire from one part of the necklace to the other." - Eugena Topina
