“In the process of straightening up my studio, I found a box of wire purchased for another project that never transpired. I also found an abundance of beads that were not good enough for bead weaving. So I challenged myself to use everything, rather than put it back in a corner. My little five-pound Yorkshire terrier just had her photo professionally taken and I decided to use her and the photo as my inspiration. I have never done any sculpture work before and building the armature was difficult for me. The whole project hovered over the trashcan many times. But I persevered, and as I began stringing and adding the beads it all began to take shape.” – Carrol Kay
