"Tahitian faux pearls were my inspiration [for this piece]. ... This was the first evening bag I have ever made, so it was a really exciting challenge. I laid one piece of light gray faux suede on top of one piece of interfaced, charcoal faux suede and (on the sewing machine) free-hand sewed my diamond pattern. Then I hand-cut out every other diamond. I finished sewing the rest of the purse together by adding a gusset, lining and magnetic snap. Before I added the flap to close my purse, I hand-stitched the martini glass using 1.8mm silver seed beads. Then I garnished it with a 10mm tahitian faux pearl, and added a pick using 1.8mm ruby silver-lined seed beads. Using 20-gauge silver wire, I strung three strands of beads. On the middle strand, I wrapped 26-gauge silver wire around and through the beads to hold them in place. Then I used 24-gauge black [colored] wire and spiral-wrapped each strand to tie them all together. I finished both ends and attached them to the D-rings on the purse with jump rings. I'm very pleased with how it turned out." — Allison Pare
