Cracked & Wrapped - Bracelet

This free bracelet project features milky fired agate gemstone beads lashed onto leather cord from Rings & Things.

Created by: Amy Mickelson

Suggested Materials:
1 str #21-898-216 8mm faceted round gemstone beads, milky fired agate
72" #61-611-02 1mm imitation leather cord, black
1 #59-100-02-AS TierraCast® large Bali button, antiqued silver plate

Tools and supplies:
Size 10 beading needle (#65-000-10)
8-lb. test (0.18mm diameter) braided or fused cording such as Fireline®
scissors

This bracelet is based on Marcella Austenfeld's "It's a Wrap!" project on page 55 in Beadwork's 2010 Bead Star magazine.

TIPS:
* Make sure the button's shank is large enough for the leather cord.

* Center the button on the piece of leather cord and secure it with an overhand knot.

* Use a doubled piece of 8-lb. test cording to lash the beads to the leather cord base.

* This design uses one strand of 8mm beads (49-50 beads). It wraps twice around a 7½" wrist. For more wraps, adjust the quantities of beads and cording.

Design Option:
* The synthetic leather is water resistant, so you can even wear this to the beach! You can alternately make this design with real leather cord (#61-501-02).

* For large-hole beads, you may be able to use waxed linen cord (#61-427-02) to attach the beads to the leather cord base.
