Glee - Lapel Pin

As seen in the Rings & Things 2010 Super Supplement
Created by: Mollie Valente

This design is made with CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements.

Suggested Materials:
3 #30-227 1" test tube-shaped glass vials with cork
1 #44-414-0 13x8mm music notes charm, raw brass
1 #03-700-06-06 CRYSTALLIZED™ 6mm margarita sew-on/bead, crystal/vitrail medium
2 #05-328-03-160 * CRYSTALLIZED™ 3mm bicone crystal beads, crystal/silver shade
2 #37-063-22 1" thin head pins, copper
1 #37-123-8 3x4mm oval jump ring, copper plate
1 #38-739 9mm tie tack with 10mm pad, white
1 #38-818 10mm gold rubber tie-tack clutch, gold
8" #46-404-11 24 gauge Artistic Wire® (Bare Copper)
1 Copyright-free images of your choice

* NOTE: Beginning in 2009, Swarovski is replacing their 5301 faceted bicone crystal style with their new 5328 faceted XILION bicone bead. Either style of bicone works well for this design.

Tools and Supplies: side cutters, chain-nose pliers, Epoxy 330 adhesive (#60-230) , Win-Ox™ oxidizer (#86-343)

Designer Tips:
* Glue the three vials together and glue the tie tack to the back with epoxy. Let the assembly dry thoroughly.

* Insert small images of your choice (cut to fit) in the vials and top them with their corks. Remove the loops from the corks first.

* Patina the metal findings.

* Add the margarita to a head pin. Wrap the head pin around a similar size head pin to create the small coil. This can then be strung on the wire.

* Wrap the wire randomly around the vials, adding the two bicones as you go. Twist the end wires together, cut off and fold in the tail.
