1 #44-780-01 30x16mm dog tag with hole, copper
1 #44-940-35-AC 22x8.5x3.2mm 3-D TierraCast® key charm, antiqued copper plate
1 #03-700-08-06 CRYSTALLIZED™ 8mm margarita bead, crystal/vitrail medium
2 #37-145-7 6mm round jump rings, antiqued copper plate
1 #37-136-7 5mm round jump ring, antiqued copper plate
1 #37-422-7 2" standard head pin, antiqued copper plate
1 #39-349-7 15mm lobster clasp, antiqued copper plate
Tools & supplies: chain-nose pliers, flat-nose pliers, round-nose pliers, side cutters, Fleur texture plate (#87-057-03), StazOn™ stamp pad (black), ferric chloride etching solution, Jax Green Patina (available from Dick Blick Art Materials® - dickblick.com)
Stamp the fleur texture plate onto dog tag using a permanent inkpad such as StazOn™.
Etch the tag with ferric chloride, following manufacturer’s recommended safety precautions. The stamped portion resists the corrosive action of the acid.
Patina the tag with Jax Green Patina or other antiquing solutions.
NOTE: The Complete Metalsmith by Tim McCreight (#62-010) provides patina and etching how-to techniques.
Add the margarita bead to a head pin, bend 90 degrees and make a wrapped loop.Use jump rings to attach the components.
