I started with PMC clay when I first learned so I bought a sierra kiln. It has all the pre programmed settings for PMC. I want to switch to Art Clay and get AC certification, but my kiln is a pain now because of the presets being different than Art Clay uses. I havn't figured out how to program it from scratch. Does anyone have any suggestions, or should I switch to a different kiln type?

Well that's a drag - I didn't realize the Seirra Kilns were preset as you describe.
The only alternative I see is to contact the manufacturer. If they are uncooperative, I would complain loudly and bitterly. They should make this right - to set up equipment that way is inappropriate, to put it mildly.
Please keep me informed on how this goes for you
I attempted to do some research for you - the trail leads to the PMC Connection. The word from EvenHeat Kilns is that the controllers come from the PMC Connection, Soo.........
They will , hopefully, help you out with your controller issues.

All Sierra Kilns come pre-set, for the users convenience, using PMC clays.
You can add other ranges to those.
You should have received some instructions for use with your kiln marked "Controller: Instructions for Use."
If you didn't, contact them at
Sierra Thermal Industries

www.sierrakilns.com
They used to have a printable instructions form on that site.
If you can't get any satisfaction form there, you could also try the facility where they are actually made at
Champion Industry Products
