I have an old two strand all crystal necklace that was strung on string that broke.  It has the old fashion hook and eye type of clasp and was knotted with the crimp covers that went over the knot.  I've never used regular stringing material like this or knotted before.

Would you restring it on some type of beading wire, like Beadalon or Softflex and just use a regular crimp bead or would it be better to restring it on some type of beading thread and knot it and reuse the same knot cover, if that's possilbe.

I'm restringing this for a customer....thank you!

Hi Graceful,

Beadalon or Soft Flex would be the easiest method, and as long as you use the largest multistrand cable that fits your beads, is also very flexible and durable. 0.018" / .46mm diameter, 19-strand or higher, should work well.

61-514 Griffin silk bead cord, with bulit-in needle, is a good cord to use if you choose to string on beading cord.  You might be able to reuse the same knot cover (aka bead tips), or it may break when you try to get the old knot out, and reuse it.  (It somewhat depends on the style of knot cover.)

I'm sorry about the delay in replying.
