Hi, Dangerous Curves,

People offering money!  '<img'>  This is nice.

Get everything in writing.  Keep this transaction a neutral factor in your personal relationship.  Pay a CPA a few bucks to do everything up:  Repayment schedule, interest if any, and other terms that she/he will be able to ask you about.

A very solid source of crafts business information is consistently Crafts Report magazine's website.  (<= Click their name to go there.)  We heartily recommend them!

They feature a link on their front page to an excellent listing of "Small Business Services".  They mention several excellent resources, for example SCORE and the SBA.

Sounds like the '<img'> window of opportunity is opening for you!

I have been approached by a family member who would like to invest some money into my growing jewelry business.

I need some advice on how I should go about this.  I not really sure of the options that I have with this offer.  I sure I would to pay the person back for the investment but I need some recommendations on what to put in the contract and how I can protect both myself and the investor..

Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dave for the information.

I've been making jewelry for less than a year now, but things have really taken off for Dangerous Curves.

I'll check the site out..

Happy Day,
Stephanie,

This is a simple problem with a simple answer.               DON"T DO IT!!!!!  Your life will change from that day forward and you will no longer have peace of mind.  How do I know?  I did it a long time ago.  A very wise jeweler once told me when he found out that I was going into business.  He said,"Take it slow".  Know what that means?  Do it in baby steps.  Don't try to rush the process.  Money rushes the process, but you still owe yjat person and it takes forever to pay it back.  Meanwhile, it is always on your mind interferring with your creative state.  stonzandbonz
