Hi storm_dragon,
You will want to check the manufacturer's directions for the brand of clay you are using. It is very important to bake the clay at the temperature given on the package.
Most brands reccommend about 15 - 20 minutes per 1/4 inch of thickness. (Premo says 30 min per 1/4 inch).

As long as you keep the temperture consistent you can cure your polymer clay for hours. I've done pieces that have required multiple (as in over 7 times) that I've placed a piece in my convection oven. If your using a toaster oven or your kitchen oven I recommend that you use a thermometer and some scrap tiles to use as a heat sink to stablize the spikes that can occur.
