i am new to beading, and first of all let me say that rings-things is the BEST! im starting my first necklace, already have my beads and pendant picked out, just wondering a couple things..1)how do you choose which type of clasp, especially between springing and lobster claw? does it really matter, or is it just more your own personal style? 2)my beads range from 3mm to 6mm...how do i know what gauge wire to choose?  3)what else do you need besides your wire, beads, and clasp...like how do you make the other end so the clasp will connect? 4)how do you know what size of bail to use? (small/medium?)i know this is a lot to answer, but i would soooo greatly appreciate anyone who will take the time to help me out. thanks so much in advance!! ''

Hi Elektra,

1) A lot is personal preference, but there are some other considerations also.
Check out our "Which Clasp?" page.

2) The important part here is -- what size are the beads' holes?  Make a list, and then pick a cording or wire that will fit through all of them.  If the variance between bead hole sizes is too great, you may actually need to switch some beads around (i.e., put some back and pick some others).  Beads with a 2mm hole, don't sit nicely next to beads with a .5mm hole, even ifyou string them all on .4mm cord.

3)  Jump rings, jump rings, jump rings.  Don't forget the jump rings!
uck - doing a seach for +jump +rings returns 104 results.
So, I would suggest using the print catalog if you have it, or narrow down your search by trying
+jump +rings +sterling  or  +jump +rings -sterling.

4) This mostly depends on your pendant.  What will you be using?  If you can provide exact measurements, or a stock number or link, we'll try to help you find (or sometimes create) just the right bail.
