Gas stove firing
«

I've just started using Art Clay, and chose the syringe type. Expense wise, I need to fire over the gas stove. My question is: How do I know when it's turned to silver? Does it have to glow for a certain amount of time? Is it done when it starts to glow? Thanks

With stove top firing, you will want your piece to 'glow' for about 5 minutes. You should start timing after it reaches a good cherry red glow. Read through this link for further descriptions of firing.

Just as a note - the clay is already silver, after firing, the particles 'sinter' and melt together into a solid body of metal, but the clay is silver powder with water and a binder.
I'm back from vacation
