Does anyone out there know what findings I can use for my friends who have metal allergies?

Hi Laurie,
The most common metal allergy is nickel. We have a variety of
nickel-free findings
for earrings, barrettes, and chokers.
Sterling silver has no nickel in it, so can be worn by many people with nickel allergies. However, some people are allergic to silver or to copper, so this doesn't work for everyone. We have a wide variety of
sterling silver ear wires
and other sterling findings.
Niobium
is a good metal that very few people are allergic to, and which is attractive and sturdy enough for earring findings. It's a fairly non-reactive metal (If I remember my chemistry properly, it has fewer stray electrons, and/or holes for other electrons to hook to).
We also carry some
non-metal earring findings
.
We're working on the database keywords to make the "non-metal earring findings" link work.
In the meantime, here are three of them:
nylon ear finding
.
In general, avoid 14kt, because 14kt gold is an alloy of 14 parts gold, and 10 parts other metal. The "other metal" varies depending on what color you're trying to get with your alloy, and may include nickel silver (especially to get the nice "white" color in white gold).
