I  have wondered  how sheet silver for  solder is used and cut to use for small jump rings. This may sound silly but I am guessing that sheet silver for solder is cut in very small pieces and stuck to the flux on the jump ring .  Is that what happens?  Are there CDs that show this? ':O'

Bonnie,
I am not aware of Cds regarding this but there are good drawings in the "Complete Metalsmith" book by Tim McCreight.
Page 74.  For sheet solder you need a fine scale tin snips and if you cut a series of parallel cuts one direction then you can snip of a series of small squares the other direction. These are good for soldering jumprings and for controlled application of solder when you are working.  You can use a pick, [a pointed steel or tungsten needle] and pick up the solder bits and place them to your work.  This is all done with torch in one had, you pieces all fluxed and your p[ick in the other hand.
Things can get complicated - this is the skill part of 'hard' soldering.  If it all seems a bit overwhelming - don't get discouraged - get help.
If you know anyone in your area who does silver soldering [hard soldering] try to get them to 'mentor' you abit - hand s on help with soldering makes a big difference.  Search our forums for 'soldering' for further tips.
Still having questions - call me at Rings & Things ':<img:'>
