"laminated" shell beads

I found some lovely beads in a shop in Ft. Lauderdale last week while vacationing. They are made of strips or slices of shell, overlaying a foam-type insert. I'm attaching a photo of some that are six-sided, with mother-of-pearl and some type of black laminate on the ends.
I've looked everywhere online to see if I can find anything like them but can't find a thing. I love them for a chunky necklace - they are lightweight and really unique. Can the buyers from R&T find anything?

LynnK, some of our buyers are flying to Hong Kong on Friday. They've got your pic and will see if they can find something similar. Good luck
