Hi,

I own a new small bead shop and I have 2 windows and I am wondering how do other bead shops dress them.  Right now I have some flowers and plants and signs and I was thinking on placing some finished necklaces.

How do you put in your windows?
What would be very eye-catching?

I want to change the window displays every 1-2 months, so I have to have lots of ideas to place in them!

Any idea and suggestion will be appreciated...

Thanks!

Hi Zentech,

Great question.  I hope we get a lot of different responses to this one, but I will start with some simpler suggestions.

I usually do the displays for the Rings & Things Showroom.  Although there are many different ways of doing this- I suggest choosing some themes.

I prefer seasonal themes (not holiday themes).  The display can stay up longer that way- so if I am in a crunch and can't get to it, it's not "visually" urgent.

Color is important.  We use lots of fabric scraps and try to stay in the color theme of the season.  (winter= solid bold colors, fall= earthtones, spring= pastels, and summer for bright and expressive tones).

Because the purpose of a WINDOW display is to bring people into your business- you do want your display to clearly showcase the best of what you have.  Once you have your base theme, light up specific areas, gather a few props (rocks, ceramics, dried flowers, anything that complements what you are displaying) and put your best finished jewelry forward.

For design help I suggest looking at trade and jewelry magazines.  Take ideas from photo spreads and make them reality.

Hope this helps!!  And have fun!
