Hi BellaDonna,

1 Gross is 12 dozen (144 pieces).
0.5 Gross is 6 dozen (72 pieces).

It's a traditional unit of measure left from the 18th or 19th century, when many jewelry findings were made in Germany.

I'm so glad this topic is not what I thought it would be when I read the subject.   Tongue

I'd like to add, usually when I see 'gross' quantities, it's either with stranded Czech glass beads (along with 'mass' which is 1,200 beads) from Europe or with base metal and plated findings, not so much with sterling silver or gold-filled.
