Hello,

I purchased some "Zambian" beads in your store.  They are dyed aqua.  I can't seem to find a description of the stone on your website or on the internet.  Can you please provide a short description of the stone for me?

Thank you!

from our gemstone index entry:
http://www.rings-things.com/gemstone/a.htm

"These lovely bright blue beads are dyed to resemble the ultra-expensive and extremely rare Zambian or "double-blue" aquamarine gemstone. Although sold to us as aquamarine, this stone is most likely dyed quartz."

For some reason, the gemstone index search isn't returning results for some of the newer entries added to it.  Our web tech is checking into it, and the search box should be behaving better soon!

Good catch, Polly!

Sorry it wasn't easier to find the info on our website, applerockfarms. Thanks for directly asking about it.

It's that catch 22 of technology... Hard to fix things we don't know are broken but it's not obvious to a user that it's actually broken.

It's worth restating that we always want to know when something at Rings & Things isn't as you'd like it to be. This goes for our products, our on line store and our never quite perfect shipping methods. We WANT to hear when we don't meet or exceed our customers expectations!

Yes, we sell a dyed stone that looks similar to the strong blue aquamarine that come from Zambia.
Ours is not aquamarine (Beryl) and the rough material probably does not come from Zambia.

We can send you photos or some sample strands on approval if you'd like to see it in person.

I think most of the genuine good color Zambian aquamarine is cut as faceted stones for setting into rings and other finished jewelry, not as beads.
