Flat metal pieces?

Hi! I'm trying to find flat pieces of metal in different colors. My reason is to be able to cut small pieces into different shapes to use for my earrings to place behind other widgets as a decorating piece. I have no idea what to call what I am looking for. I picture it in my mind as perhaps a piece of brass flat metal sheet maybe in a 12 in square. I'm sorry for this poor description, it's just something that came to mind that I would like to use. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you. Fairly new to this, (working jewelry for 25 years for fun, now for business) Jaimee

Hi Jaimee!
I don't think anything exists ready made as a jewelry component. I know we don't have anything like that. Automotive supply house might have mylar or metalized plastic sheet that could work for you.
I've seen people print colored patterns on adhesive film with a computer printer. They stuck that on metal shapes they cut out and used them as earring parts. They were very pretty and lightweight.
Hopefully that will get you started along your new idea.
By the way, multiple posting, particularly in the same section is frowned on in most forums. It usually does not get an answer any quicker. In some forums it might keep you from getting an answer because it annoys the people who do most of the answering.

There are several metal suppliers making silver and I think brass sheets in textures which might fit to your idea but not colors.
The only other source of colored metal I can think of would be anodized aluminum. I don't know of a supplier of sheet aluminum in the anodized colors but hopefully this might be enough information to get you hunting. Digging into industrial suppliers may help for the sort of a search. Another place to check on might be various metal recyclers - you get some great cut-offs etc. it won't be steady supply but might get you started.
