It looks like a stone but it might be something man made, was hoping someone could identify it. It is flat and about 30 to 35 mm wide.

Hi, I put your question up on our Facebook fan page too -- here are a couple of suggested identifications of this stone:

Landon Clary Eason:  "It looks like mahogny obsidian to me."

Denise Cruey May:  "Dyed howlite?"

We don't have dyed howlite in our online store at the moment

(Just plain howlite)

But we usually have dyed howlite in several colors at our BeadTour bead shows!  Our fall season begins in a few days, so check out a show near you.

I was looking to get the stone pre cut to the size and shape like in the photo, any idea where I can hire a stone cutter to make these for my project? I will need about 75 made.

If you are in an area  with a rockhound or lapidary club you could find some members who could do that for you.

I don't think it is a dyed howlite. More likely a Mahogany obsidian or a very dark jasper.

How large is the stone in the picture?
The stone is not a bead, right? It does not have a hole in it?
Isn't the stone in the picture an oval flat top cabochon? Or is it a round flat top cabochon that is inset into the metal part.
By "flat top" I mean that it is not a domed cabochon.

If it is a standard size cab you should be able to find it from one of the cabochon dealers.
By standard size I mean 7x9, 13x18, 20x30 oval or 20, 24 or 30mm round. What some dealers call calibrated sizes.

Based on what Russ suggested, I tried googling 30mm mahogany obsidian cabochon and came up with some that look close.
But if you can find some rough stone and a local rockhound stonecutter, you'd be able to get exactly what you want!

Remember cruzxsteel, the links you provide must actually relate to the topic, or be jewelry/components that you, yourself, have made by hand.

I've deleted the "acrylic beads" link again.
