I have always worried about using toggle clasps, fearful that they were not secure and would fall off.   But I just got some of the Ring/Connector chain (item 40-099-42-3) and really want to make bracelets with toggles.  I tried using one last night, but the bracelet has fallen off several times today!  glare  Can you suggest how to choose a toggle that will be secure?  Is it something about the length of the bar?  Or the loop that attaches the clasp to the bracelet?  Or the size or shape of the ring?

Would love some input from you toggle experts out there!

Thanks in advance!

Personally, I really like toggle clasps for bracelets. One of my favorites uses this 3-ring toggle clasp.  Check out the tips below the clasp description for some toggle-usage hints.

These 2 factors are important when using toggle clasps for bracelets:

1. A snug-fitting bracelet.  If the bracelet is too long/loose, the toggle bar has a high chance of working its way out. For bracelets for sale, it usually works well to make a 3-loop or 5-loop section at the end, so your customer can adjust the bracelet to fit.

2. Toggle long enough to hook securely in the loop. The bar is commonly about 1.5x longer than the loop's diameter. Longer is ok, but shorter is not good.

For bracelets AND necklaces, your last few beads before the bar should be small so that you can easily pull the bar all the way through the loop.
