its cold and wet outside.. the days are getting shorter and our mount Taranaki got some snow on his head this morning.. but..we found a way to get some of this summer feeling back  Azn easily cut out of the Paua shell did we start to create some Kiwi jandals..

That's very cute and summery!  We're eagerly heading into summer now, but it's a rainy gray day outside at the moment for me.

Do you do your shell-cutting underwater, to avoid breathing the hazardous particles?

yes we cut and polish them under running water because the dust is not healthy to breath in! I also thought to maybe use something else than silver for the strings to make them wearable 24hs as I am a lazy person with taking off my jewellery at night.

=)  Sterling silver is a bit soft, but I love it.  I have worn out a few well-loved rings over the years, but they were a bit thin to begin with.

And, silver looks great with abalone & paua shell.  Actually, I bet gold would be very pretty with it too... but so much more expensive for good karat gold!
