I'm new to jewelry-making and recently went to Hobby Lobby to buy all the things I would need to make a necklace to put a promise ring on with some charms that remind me of my relationship with my fiancee. I bought a chain, some charms, the tools, split rings, and eye pins. I used the split rings to connect everything to the chain and am scared the charms might slip through the split during wear. I didn't want to crimp them so tight that they bent. Could I put a drop of super glue over the split to keep the charms from slipping off? I'm attaching a picture of the necklace.

Thanks,
Robin

With these little connectors, it's hard to see in a photo if you are using split rings or jump ringsSplit rings are like tiny key rings - they are harder to use, but you don't have to worry about them coming off.

If they are jump rings, then there are a couple of choices.
* You can use 2 jump rings each place where you are currently using 1.  This can give a nice chain mail effect, and decreases the odds that anything will fall off.
* You can use oval jump rings instead of round jump rings.  The cut in an oval jump ring is at the side, and items usually hang/pull at the top and bottom, so these are safer.
* A good general tip is to use the thickest wire that will fit your items
* Last, but not least: Always twist jump rings sideways to open and close them, rather than opening them into an oval shape. This page has the best instructions: http://www.rings-things.com/projects/designer_tip_sheets/jewelry_instructions.pdf, but if you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader, then there is an image/example on this page as well: http://www.rings-things.com/stringing/finishing.htm  This is easiest with 2 pairs of pliers, but can be done with just one as well.  This really helps you line them up tighter, although you often have to go back and forth a few times before they are perfectly aligned.
