Our 69-171 basic saw frame will do just fine on wire with the smaller 2.5 " depth.
If you want to get into piercing and sawing in sheet, by all means get the Swiss made 69-170. It's really a better saw frame and it's only a couple of bucks more. You'll want the added depth when you are sawing designs out of the middle of a sheet.
The finest 69-191-30 blade will give you the smoothest cut but it is the easiest to snap. (Don't throw the broken blade away! Shorten the saw frame and use the longest part of the saw blade by chucking it into the other side. (I'd sell more blades without that advice but you'd quickly figure it out on your own.) I used to find the shorter blade easier to control. The next finest one 69-191-20 will give almost as smooth a cut and is a little harder to snap.
