Is anyone using these buckle blanks to set photos in the buckle and seal it with resin?? Also what type of resin are you using and are there any instructions to assist with the process??

thank you,

Hi, Soupman45,

You can definitely "resinate" images onto these belt-buckle findings.

Check out these examples:

Sea Maiden buckle

Space Bot buckle

Experiment, have fun, and consider sharing photos with us of your results!

Well ... um ... with today's unhealthy lifestyles, we aim to help people stay active ... even if the only activity a deceased artist can muster, is to turn over in their grave ... ?

I'm looking to do something like this, but I've never used resin before. Could anyone recommend good beginner a resin sold by Rings & Things that would work with their buckle blanks?

Rings & Things carries EasyCast epoxy resin; just follow the directions, it is very easy to use:

Here is a tip sheet from the Rings & Things' Design Team:

And here is a tip sheet for making your own no-solder bezels:

Have fun, and post your projects here!

I've been using the resin linked above, and am mostly happy with it, but I do have one pretty big problem.

If I leave buckles stacked on each other with any part of the metal resting on the resin coat it makes an imprint into the resin. I've given them plenty of time to set (the most recent one to get an imprint had been set for over a month).

Am I doing something wrong, or is this just a soft resin? Any recommendations for harder resins that won't require me to keep my buckles from touching when I store them?
