Hello,
I have a few questions and I've looked at several places already and didn't find much info.  I'd like to know if there's a post about making doll size jewelry, headpieces, etc.? I'm learning how to make OOAK fairies of different sizes but don't know how or what size items to use. Most of my dolls are Barbie size.

Hi Bea,

Sorry - no existing posts about sizes to make doll jewelry.

I suggest that for doll bracelets and necklaces, you use Stretch Magic cord, rather than standard beading cord or beading cable. This is because knotting accurately with non-stretch cord on a 7.5" bracelet is already difficult (you often get get a tiny bit of slack). But that 1-2mm of slack that might be acceptable on a 7.5" bracelet or 18" necklace is going to look awful on a 1/2" bracelet or 2" necklace.  And, the 2mm crimp bead used when finishing beading cable for human-sized jewelry, will be over-sized for doll jewelry.

The Stretch Magic should also work nicely for doll headpieces.  It knots very nicely.

Small sparkly beads such as Charlotte-cut seed beads or 3mm Czech firepolish beads should work nicely for doll jewelry.

I have made jewelry for years, so it was only natural to progress to making jewelry for my dolls. Now it’s time to share it all with you, because I know, you have dolls that need jewelry, too. Each of these hand crafted pieces are made from a carefully selected array of precious and semi-precious stones, crystals, and vintage beads and findings. With the same attention to detail that has been a trademark of Cheryl’s Unlimited jewelry for years. Barbie Dolls, Antique & Modern Fashion Dolls, Lady Dolls, and many more love these pieces.

Hi edwinanit,

What is your favorite size/shape of bead for doll jewelry?
